I work from an integrative perspective, drawing from psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive, and humanistic theories.
I believe that the first step in effecting positive change in your life begins with building self-awareness. So often, avoiding issues is the easier and more attractive option, but I firmly believe that ignorance is not bliss. As a therapist, my job is to provide a safe and judgement-free space for you to learn more about yourself in order to attain sustainable change. If you are experiencing things like issues in your relationships, loneliness, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, low self-esteem -- I can help you.

I am a humanistic therapist, working from an attachment based perspective. As a humanist I believe in combining a non-judgmental and supportive environment with intellectual curiosity to work with you as a whole person, thoughts and feelings.  In our relationship, I believe we are partners working together to determine root causes and patterns to find the best way forward. I specialize in the areas of addiction, profound grief/bereavement, emotional trauma and Gottman Method Couples Therapy My style is humanistic and person centered, and my affect is candid but mindful.
"You are strong enough to face it all, even if it doesn't feel like it right now" . This quote speaks quite loudly to me because upon reflection, I find that Life has a way of interfering when I am busy doing something else. I have spent the better part of 25 years learning who I am and have willingly and sometimes unwillingly faced harsh realities I would not chose for anyone, much less myself. One of the most important things that has proven to be true for me, is that if I can find meaning in events that shattered my world or at the very least, shook it up, then my understanding and insight increased and I could find peace.

Are you commonly losing yourself in relationships? Do you easily give up yourself to please others? Do you find yourself saying, "I don't even know who I am?" Or maybe you would say, "I'm not sure I've ever known who I am." Do you have a history of childhood trauma/abuse, or were you raised by toxic parents? Or perhaps you have experienced spiritual abuse perpetrated by parents, or false spiritual leaders. Are you gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, non-binary, queer, questioning other member of the LGBTQ+ population? Are you having relationship problems? I have worked with these issues and more for over more than 30 years.

I believe the therapy process involves forming a relationship with someone who you can share your innermost thoughts and struggles with. Everyone should be able to share their problems with a trusted individual in an environment that is safe and free from judgement. I provide my clients with an environment free from judgement where you can let your guard down and just be you. Admitting that you need help doesn’t mean something is wrong with you, it means you are ready to grow and better understand yourself.

Humanistic Therapists

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualization and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
