Announcement icon The Psychotherapy Groups that I lead both for Young Adults and Helping Professionals are up and running virtually through a Zoom platform
It is a myth that therapists, by the nature of their profession, sit above the fray of the human condition. Although most are skilled, knowledgeable, and effective helpers; like all sapiens, they bend, they wobble, and a few trip and fall. Firstly there are the job hazards of fatigue, isolation, uncertainty and oscillating self esteem. The toll is even heavier when homegrown areas of personal challenge are added. I have been leading relational process groups for members of the helping profession for 20 years and I continue to be impressed by the effectiveness of this modality for deepening connections, rejuvenation and repair.
What group members say: The group has played a major role in my personal and professional development; One of the best things I’ve done to take care of myself as a therapist; A place safe enough to challenge and be challenged; Able to reflect, connect, heal, feel rejuvenated; Helped me to navigate my own blocks while remaining an effective therapist.
Claiming that groups really work is a far cry from stating the process is easy. It is not. The thing that makes groups great—the presence of others—is also the thing that makes groups scary, at least initially. Risking vulnerability, sharing that which we work so hard to shelter, is the cost of deepening connections that heal, exhilarate, and change us.

Howie Schnairsohn's Groups

Young Adult Group

CO-LED by Ann Keren Neeman-Kantor, PsyD. This is a mixed gender group of young adults who draw upon each other's struggles, insights, and strengths to navigate transitions, explore relationships, and increase self-esteem. As witnessed in the timeless coming-of-age movie 'Breakfast Club', the process of becoming more fully known to one another develops trust, draws members closer, and furthers an appreciation of one's uniqueness. The group becomes a secure base from which new challenges are often met with greater confidence, clarity, and focus.

Survival 101: New Mental Health Professionals.

A MYTH exists that mental health professionals, sit above the fray of the human condition. Recognizing this as untrue is the first step in preventing ‘burnout.” Although most are skilled, knowledgeable, and effective helpers, like all sapiens, some bend, some wobble, and a few fall. Firstly there are the occupational hazards of fatigue, isolation, and uncertainty. The toll is even heavier, however, when combined with areas of personal/interpersonal challenge. I have been leading dynamically oriented relational process groups for members of the helping profession for 20 years and I am impressed by its effectiveness for discovery, deepening connections, increased self esteem, rejuvenation, and repair.
