I specialize in Grief Counseling. No matter the cause, when the heartache of grief settles in it can leave you feeling hopeless, numb and emotionally overwhelmed. People who love and care about you may not always understand what you are going through or how to help. You may worry about burdening them with your pain and feel isolated, especially as everyone else carries on with normal life. Stories of grief take many forms, not always related to death and sometimes with an element of trauma. You may not know where to turn, but you long for relief from this deep sorrow and anxiety and want to experience joy again. There is hope!
Using a Strengths Based, Collaborative Approach I have a passion for helping people move through their grief rather than feeling stuck in it. I draw upon Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Complicated Grief Therapy, Narrative Therapy and parts work for healing when a trauma is involved. Mostly, I am here to listen and bear witness to your personal story.
It is normal to feel nervous about counseling at first, but as you get to know me, you will find someone easy to talk to. I wholeheartedly believe you can more comfortably cope with your toughest waves of grief, find meaning in your experience and feel safe as you move into a new life.
