Such a relationship is essential, as it is often the first setting in which the person receiving treatment shares intimate thoughts, beliefs, and emotions regarding the issue(s) in question.
As a therapist, I believe that you (the client) are the expert on yourself. What I am here to do is facilitate the exploration of feelings, thoughts, and patterns of behavior that will allow me to meet my clients wherever they are in the process of resolution and acceptance. I build a warm, person-centered, and collaborative clinical practice.
