As a Bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor, my work primarily consists of working with those who have experienced sexual abuse, domestic violence, trauma, grief, depression/anxiety, and other life transitions. My work centers specifically with women and young adults. As a first generation Latina I can understand the struggles and anxieties that can come about when seeking mental health services.

Our past experiences can have a significant impact on our present day problems. Unresolved childhood trauma can present itself in adulthood as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, avoidance, self-sabotage, insecurity, fear of abandonment, low self-worth, low self-esteem, people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, and difficulty dealing with confrontation or conflict. Trauma can also present itself physically in the form of body aches and pains, muscle tension, and sleep disturbance. Therapy can be highly beneficial in healing from trauma, managing stress, and building resilience.

I have been a therapist in the community for over 23 years. I focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and use other therapeutic interventions, as needed, for my clients. I have developed a focus on mental health and substance use disorders. The ages I work with is between 9 yrs old on up for individual, couples and family therapy. After completing my Bachelor's of Psychology at the University if Monterrey, Mexico, I began specialized training at the Child Analytic Study Program at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where I also completed a Master's in Education and Psychology. I moved to Houston and while raising my four children I founded Mexican Women's Initiative, a non-profit organization focusing on organizing Latin women to provide services for the Latin community. I then joined two other Latin psychotherapists to create the "Centro para el Desarrollo para la Mujer", an educational forum for Latin women.
