Hello I am John Kenner, I am a therapist and clinical social worker. I provide active behavioral counseling and therapy. My practice consists of direct clinical service including family, individual, couples, youth, adolescents , adult and elderly therapy. I use evidence based interventions, client centered therapy and life coaching. I also provide interpersonal and relationship building tools skills and techniques.

I understand everyone has their own journey. My goal is to build a healthy transparent therapeutic relationship with my clients. I understand the importance of meeting clients where they are. I do so by tailoring sessions to fit you and your needs. I want you to feel comfortable, safe and supported while expressing yourself and working towards your goals. I earned both my Bachelor and Master degrees in Social Work from Wayne State University. My social work background consists of working in healthcare and providing support and counseling to children, individuals and families.

As a licensed clinical therapist and school social worker, my goal, focus and passion is to help every person I work with meet their full potential by helping them with healing and understanding “The Process”. I take pride in standing with you in exploring various behaviors that hinder success (thoughts, emotions, actions and inactions) with compassion and empathy.

For over 20 years I have been involved in the mental health system and have had the privilege of helping individuals & families achieve their goals and overcome a variety of challenges (i.e. depression, anxiety, mood disorders, new transitions, relational, & substance abuse struggles). While speaking both English & Spanish languages, my hope is that each individual that I encounter will gain a better understanding of themselves, and also learn valuable skills to move forward towards a more fulfilling and flourishing life---to be able to find 'Peace of Mind'--within themselves and within their surroundings.

Clinically, I have worked in the Community Mental Health system and in a private practice prior to opening my own private practice. I am trained in 10+ evidenced-based practices like Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy, used in treating PTSD, the Nurturing Parent Program (NPP), and Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT). My passion is to help others to live life as the best version of themselves, regardless of their age or presenting issues. No matter how hard you try, you can’t show up in your life the way you imagine and intend to. You fantasize about your ideal life, but unhealthy patterns keep you from showing up for yourself and those you care about in ways that don’t align with your values.
