My name is Herbert Lomax Jr and I am a licensed clinical social worker with over eight years of experience. My practice is geared toward African American males. It is my goal to empower and equip you with the tools to get past your present difficulties so that you can get the future that you deserve and desire. I typically work with African American males ages 14 and up. I have experience and am comfortable treating the following conditions: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma (including racial trauma, and addictions.
I have an eclectic therapeutic approach. I take the personality, strengths, and situation of the person and I use the approach that fits the individual. This may be cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused, psychodynamic, or any other combination of approaches that work best for the client.
My communication style is one where I strive to create an environment where the client feels. I am able to do this by the fact that I truly accept my clients and want nothing but the best from them. By creating an environment in which my clients feel safe, they are then able to use the acceptance that they get from me to achieve the goals that they desire.
