Hi, my name is Heather Tharp LCSW. My therapy practice is grounded in acceptance and validation while working to increase tolerance and flexibility. This helps to reduce anxiety and depression, and increase compassion and a relaxed perspective of ourselves and the world around us. I always use Person Centered approach for the framework of our interactions as your perspective is the heart of therapy. I will interlay others like Psychodynamic, CBT or CPT when we investigate and process things that are 'stuck'. And we will use skills to reduce symptoms of distress.
I specialize in treating clients experiencing loss, trauma or difficult life adjustments. I'm dedicated in helping my clients navigate emotional challenges to find relief from anxiety and depression. I emphasize a client-guided and eclectic approach to highlight understanding of the complexities of individual experiences.
I communicate with active listening and validation. There are times when I will ask for, and offer perspectives out of curiosity. In general communication is very informal and relaxed.
