I help people with diverse cultural backgrounds to solidify healthy personal identities, locate themselves within larger communal identities, identify their values, needs, and preferences, and to communicate these in healthy and culturally sensitive ways so that they can live personally meaningful and satisfying lives, while still honoring their parents, families, and cultures. I also help clients with other concerns, including stress, anxiety, depression, career concerns, work-life balance, life transitions, cross-cultural adaptation, and intercultural relationships.
Our greatest pain and potential for healing both occur in relational contexts. We'll explore your formative relationships and our therapeutic relationship to find ways to make your current relationships and life more satisfying. Should it be your wish, we'll also explore cultural and/or religious/spiritual factors that may be important to our work together.
Therapy may not be common in your community. You may be concerned that a therapist will try to shape you into their image. Investing time and resources in therapy (which really is investing in yourself) may seem like a barrier. You are worth investing in. I'll work to understand you from within your own framework. Therapy can address your needs. Reach out.
