I am a former public school teacher. My experience as a military wife is an asset to my counseling practice because I am familiar with some of the unique needs of military members/public servants and their families. My goal as a counselor is to help you or your child bring the hard things to the surface. I will help you mine for hope with tools such as insight, encouragement, and empathy. Counseling can be a way to help you see more clearly and move forward through your challenges to a more peaceful place. If you're stuck in what feels like hard ground, hope is worth the dig.
My clients and I have walked through anxiety, depression, educational concerns, relationship conflicts, trauma, & gender issues. I practice from an eclectic theoretical orientation rooted in attachment theory, CBT, systems theory, EFT, and DBT. I am also a former homeschool mom and public-school teacher, and I bring that experience into my therapy sessions.
My favorite hobbies include travelling and going to estate sales with my husband where I have acquired a large collection of board games, puppets, and ugly Christmas sweaters that occasionally find their way into the therapy room. I would be honored to share them with you.
