Human beings are resilient. They survive unimaginable things through resourceful measures, though these can be incomprehensible to others. Sometimes, the very things people do to get through tough times can result in negative consequences (addictions, people-pleasing, perfectionism, suicidal/self-harming behaviors, procrastination). Some folks seek therapy to explore different ways of coping to decrease disruption in their lives. Some people use therapy to process events from earlier years while others focus on adjusting current behaviors. There is no wrong way on the path toward healing - it's all about learning what works for you.
We can meet in the office, by telehealth, or outside in nature. I may offer helpful techniques and resources, but most importantly, I provide an affirming, nonjudgmental listening space for clients to share openly. Training, paired with lived experience, have guided me in specialty areas of grief, trauma, and caregiving for serious medical or mental illness.
I want to help you build a life worth living by learning about what you've been through, what your concerns are, and what motivates you to keep moving forward. I will use humor, mindfulness, and experiential opportunities to increase awareness of what moves you toward your goals and what gets in your way.
