My formal education has prepared me to counsel individual adolescents, children, adults, groups, and the multicultural population. My approach to counseling is best described as one that is person-centered and family systems oriented. I believe people are capable of reaching their best potential given the right support and tools for change, and that whenever possible treatment should involve the family not just the individual child or adult.
The goals and techniques of therapy will be based on each client individually according to his or her specific concerns and reasons for entering into counseling, such as TF-CBT, CBT, reality therapy, talk therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and behavior modification.
My role as a counselor is to teach effective coping skills to assist clients with managing their mental illnesses, current and past stressors. I also value collaborating with other community resources in order to more fully support the well being of children and families.
