Most people seek out a psychologist when they have truly done their best to resolve their difficulties on their own. When you can't see your own emotional blind spots, feeling stuck and distressed can ripple through many areas of your life. Perhaps this is your first time seeking out a therapist, or perhaps you are returning to psychotherapy for a fresh perspective. As a psychologist with over 17 years of experience, I have a seasoned understanding of what leads people to hit roadblocks in their lives, in areas including work, school, marriage, parenting, family, and intimate relationships.

In my 20 years in practice, I have supported many people looking for a deeper relationship with themselves and others; people with a wide range of concerns and clinical presentations. I have a particular interest in developmental and attachment trauma. The tools I utilize are also highly effective in relieving chronic stress, and in helping almost anyone cope who feels stuck emotionally, physically, or spiritually. Whatever your unique needs, I'll work closely with you to identify what's holding you back - and ways we can help you move forward. I also support clients in the integration of psychedelic experiences.

I know sometimes we may feel alone with our own problems. We may feel stuck. We may have a hard time settling down. We may not know who to talk to. It happens to everybody and it is wise to reach out to someone and talk about possible solutions. I'd like to help you.

We humans are relational. We all need support, and this is a meaningful step -- choosing to enter therapy and accept that support. As an LMFT, my emphasis is on relationship. That could be relationships to anyone and ultimately it is relationship to oneself. I work with empathy, partnering with you in your growth, with the aim of expanding your love of self and life. I ask that you join me in being curious about you and to treat our work as a lab for learning which you can take outside of our sessions and apply to your life. We are all naturally striving toward greater health and aliveness -- it is the thrust of life.

With this background, I offer you a unique, experienced, and well-rounded therapist. (For safety reasons, I am currently only offering online therapy sessions.)

I specialize in treating adults in their 20's and 30's. Most of my clients have the things that they believe constitute a good life (secure jobs, close friend groups, active social lives, etc) yet they continue to feel anxious, lost, sad, unfulfilled, burned out, and perplexed by what their purpose on this earth really is. Additionally, many of them experience significant distress caused by an endless drive towards achievement rather than fulfillment and a self-defeating pattern of comparing themselves to others.

When we hold layers of unprocessed experience and emotions, life can feel very constricted. Often we're not even aware that's what's going on. We just feel stuck, and things have a way of feeling like an uphill struggle. That's because the accumulation of stress and overwhelming experiences in our life and relationships can create a new normal that is far removed from who we really are. It becomes harder to connect with our strengths, dreams, aliveness and power.

Even the most successful people could benefit from support sometimes. Are you getting sick of what's bothering you? Feeling unlike yourself, beating yourself up, disappointed in your relationships, or frustrated with your family? Learn how to redirect unproductive thoughts. What if therapy could help you unwind and have fun — even when you're stressed? It's okay to set boundaries, prioritize your values, and make space to clarify what you want and need to be happy. Together, we can problem-solve what doesn't seem right in your job, life, or business, and develop personalized tools and strategies to help you reach your goals.

My ideal client is any person who has the courage to reach out and to ask for help. It takes courage and bravery in the middle of darkness and desperation to do just that: to hold out hope against anxiety and hopelessness. It takes intelligence and wisdom to recognize that you cannot do it alone. I firmly believe that it’s not what happens to us, it’s what we do. And my promise is to help you, who reaches out and makes the call.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
