My goal and privilege as a therapist is to assist others in improving all aspects of their lives. I believe in the innate capacity of the human spirit to overcome adversity and experience healing. I employ a variety of approaches depending on your needs, and tailor a treatment plan to assist you on this journey. While trained and teaching a variety of interventions and therapies, I specialize in trauma therapy (specifically EMDR Therapy), relationship counseling, and short-term solution-focused work.

I am a board-certified Neuropsychologist through the American Board of Professional Psychology specializing in Psychological and Neuropsychological testing. I was the Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist on active duty in Department of Defense until retirement after 26 years total military service. As a retired U. S. Army Major, I administer Psychological testing for PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury. I administer testing for Dementia, Alzheimer’s, ADHD/ADD, Autism, Depression, Anxiety and other Psychological and Neuropsychological Disorders.

I know that you or a family member having TBI, spinal cord injury, other bodily injuries, and or chronic illness may be experiencing drastic life changes which may have caused you to feel depression, anxiety, isolation etc. I offer individual & group therapy/support groups to provide coping skills & emotional support. Committed relationships can be a very exciting time but can also be a very nerve wrecking time because its one of the biggest decisions of your life if you decide to marry this person. I work with a diverse array of clients, including active and retired military, police, and other first responders, as well as victim/survivors of trauma, chronic illness, substance use, and the LGBTQ+ population. I have skills for the variety of concerns that my populations encounter, including, complex PTSD, trauma, severe anxiety, adjustment, re-integration, communication, TBI/ABIs, phobias, substance use, and mood dysregulation. Most importantly, I work with clients that come how they are, how they can, and with everything they have.

I am here to help with any related depression and behavioral change goals. People can make better decisions if they have enough information, and they understand how their behaviors and thoughts and experiences impact them. Here are some aspects of counseling and therapy I believe and practice. Counseling includes the client’s active participation, involvement and commitment to recognize problems and concerns and changing behaviors and thoughts and feelings. Therefore, a client will probably have to work both in and out of the counseling session to address his or her concerns. There are no instant or painless or passive cures.

As human beings, we all experience stressors throughout our lives and some of us endure traumatic experiences, which can lead us to feel hopeless and broken at times. Even in our darkest hours we have unique strengths that can be temporarily lost within the storm. We all have the choice and power within to find healing and to ultimately change ourselves and our situation in the process. When we cannot find the answers in the world around us, it is time to look within.

My client population includes children, adolescents and adults. I work with individuals as well as families. I facilitate numerous groups and skills training curriculum in various topics including adolescent first offenders, anger management, divorce and separation, parenting, and teen issues.

A social worker once saved me and it ignited a fire within my soul to help others who struggle with trauma, women's issues, or suicidal ideation.
