My practice is limited to males 11 and up. Focus areas include boyhood, adolescence, masculinity and sexual health. We pretend boys don't experience the same degree of emotions compared to girls but in reality we don't teach boys how to identify, process and express emotions. It's little wonder substance abuse, domestic violence, violent crimes, road rage, communication/relationship problems and silent emotional suffering are at epidemic levels. Anger, depression, anxiety, poor self-esteem are rampant.
Emotional instruction and emotional support provide men and boys with skills, understanding, confidence and self-acceptance they often lack. Developing emotional fluency and literacy is empowering to boys and men, identifying and processing emotions prevents fear of the unknown. Emotionally intelligent men are more capable, functional and content.
I have experience in many practice areas: inpatient psychiatric, substance abuse, collaborative practice with prescribers, years of college level teaching (Clemson), non-secular training while having a faith basis, residential treatment centers, in home services, foster & adoptions, public sector, additional grad studies, med-surg hospital and schools.
