I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I began my career in mental health as an advocate and educator. While working in that capacity, I decided to go back to school and got my Master of Science Degree in Counseling from the University of Alabama. I was licensed in 2000. Since then, I have worked with Child Protective Services, Employment Assistance Programs, Mental Health Centers, and private practice. My approach is non-judgmental and supportive. Together, we will move toward making changes to improve your life. Recently, I have been doing online counseling, working with adults and teens.
I like to work with adults and teens, but I have also worked with children. I specialize in anxiety, depression, and relationships, I use Cognitive Behavior Counseling, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Grief Therapy, and Person-centered Therapy, plus other therapies as needed.
I ask clients to tell me what they are experiencing. I then ask questions to help them clarify their problems and look at other issues that may have impacted them. I use unconditional positive regard when listening and commenting on their issues. From there, we begin to work on a treatment plan with goals and directives.
