Harland Curtis, MS, LMHC, Counselor in Edmonds
As humans, we are biologically wired for relationships, and it is how we have become patterned by these relationships that give us joy and comfort, or conversely, pain, anger, or grief. In my work with individuals and couples, we come to understand that what is happening now is best understood in the larger context of "how we got here." Making sense of life long patterns quickly calms anxieties and pain and opens a space for feeling and thinking in the present, where creative problem solving can help heal old wounds and breathe new life into current relationships.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY: I work with adult men and women with depression, anxiety, family of origin neglect or abuse issues, adult traumas, loss, anger, shame, and low self esteem. As all of these issues stem from relational patterns, past and present, our work will inevitably focus on healing these patterns.
MARRIAGE COUNSELING : My work with couples is emotion focused. I help partners understand their roles in repetitive conflict and avoidance patterns so we can then turn to deeper, more vulnerable emotions. In this safer and gentler climate, partners turn towards one another as personal truths and needs become known and shared.
