I often work with individuals whose past experiences are interfering with their ability to engage in the present. This may be a result of trauma, neglect, abuse, or enduring a major loss in life. I treat adults and teens with issues related to trauma, grief, mood disorders, and borderline personality disorder. I utilize an integrated, evidence-based treatment approach including schema therapy, DBT, narrative therapy, and ERP. I listen to what clients see as most important and use this as a starting point. My hope for you is to feel safe and understood but also challenged.
We will examine your beliefs about yourself, the world, and others; together we can understand how these beliefs were formed and whether they are still serving you. We can identify new patterns of thinking and ways of engaging in the world that feel more aligned with the person you want to be.
Throughout my career I have found myself deeply drawn to how sitting with someone in darkness can make the darkness feel less lonely. My job isn’t necessarily to make the darkness go away; in fact, darkness is a part of the natural cycle of life. However, I am committed to creating a space where we can sit with hard things and navigate where to go, together.
