One of the hardest struggles in life can be trying to learn how to navigate the world when something is lost. Facing the reality that we as humans have to grieve losses can be excruciating – whether the loss be of a loved one, relationship, or simply your sense of belonging in this world. Life-altering changes are inevitable parts of the human condition, but this doesn't make them any less painful. Realizing the impermanence of all things can be difficult to bear. You may find yourself in denial – trying your hardest to avoid and shut things out; becoming distant and disconnected. How does one find meaning when the meaning is gone?
Through authentic self-exploration, we can find a new way of being in the world. This can involve honest acceptance of life's hardships while recognizing we are always capable of re-inventing ourselves, finding new purpose, and reconnecting with ourselves and others. My therapeutic style is influenced by existential, feminist, and ACT theories.
I take a nonpathologizing & systems-based approach to mental health, as I firmly believe that human suffering is often an understandable, adaptive response to the complicated world we live in. Facing fear and finding peace and understanding within our own minds can be endlessly freeing. Looking forward to potentially being part of your journey.
