I am a Baltimore-based psychotherapist treating individuals and couples for over 15 years. My expertise is in adjustment and inter-generational, trauma-related disorders. I’ve been described as empathic, creative and funny and I’ve seen clients progress immeasurably as they feel safe working with me. Coming from a writing background, I pay close attention to narratives, language, and self expression. I help my clients establish themselves in the world through honest storytelling. Through relational, psychodynamic therapy and EMDR, I incorporate not only the mind but the emotions in the body when I sense trust.
The writer Joan Didion says, “We tell ourselves stories in order to live.” From childhood, we are drawn to reading and listening to stories, knowingly and unknowingly reliving our own. I want to help my clients gain insight as they decide what they want to keep or let go from their stories. Once the narratives become clear, a plan of action follows.
We cannot reach mental health through our minds alone because, as Didion points out,
