| Deutsch I am a pediatric psychologist who works with children, teens, young adults, and families facing complex challenges, including medical illness, grief, trauma, developmental concerns, and school-related needs.
Some children and families are dealing with more than one thing at a time. It may be a medical diagnosis alongside school struggles. Grief layered on top of anxiety. Developmental concerns in the middle of a family transition. Or a child who is trying to manage something hard while the adults around them are doing the same. Families usually find their way to me when something feels more layered than expected.
My training and day-to-day work have taken me into some very high-stakes spaces. I currently work as a psychologist in pediatric oncology. My work is patient-led and developmentally informed. I am not the steerer of the ship, but I'm closely tracking pace, readiness, and what actually makes sense for the person or family in front of me.
There is no substitute for competent, grounded care, especially when life feels raw, overwhelming, or unfair.
