In my experience, life is better and easier if you have someone that understands you, sees it from your point of view, and helps you navigate through it. A good therapist is like a fellow traveler who journeys with us into awareness, facilitating the insight necessary to heal and grow. I am a passionate facilitator of this process, helping my clients make sense of their lives and relationships, heal what's kept them stuck, explore new ways of being and live richly. The therapy we do is deep and has long-lasting effects, and the changes become your second nature, even after therapy ends.

I draw on contemporary relational, emotionally-focused, attachment/developmental, and psychodynamic, approaches to develop a unique and specifically appropriate response to your concerns. I work with individuals and specialize in couples therapy to address immediate needs and, if desired, longer-term transformative possibilities.

My guiding and personal dream: Healing begins when we embrace the mystery of life's terrible richness; healing deepens as we embrace our history, looking squarely behind the curtain of remembrance; healing transforms when we embrace possibility, playing with our waking dreams and our potential.

Guy Burstein's Groups

Men's Support and Interpersonal Process Group

This group is designed for men seeking greater self-understanding and more satisfying personal relationships. The format includes psycho-education about men's issues within the context of mutual support and interpersonal process (what's happening in the group here-and-now). The group aims to help men: remove blocks to emotional intimacy; escape society's expectations of masculinity, reclaim healthy anger from aggression, hostility and rage; resist shame and validating men's desire for support and connection; increase joy and pleasure without resorting to dangerous and addictive behaviors; and resolve traumatic memories of rejecting, neglectful or abuse authority figures.
