I provide an opportunity for people to freely express their feelings and thoughts to achieve the changes they desire. I work interactively with clients so they may develop their strengths and achieve their goals. Assisting individuals in becoming at ease with their feelings, however difficult they may be, is an important aspect of the work I do. Feelings can become useful tools for living rather than disturbing impediments. The ubiquitous problems of uncomfortable feelings, harmful behaviors, and the challenges of relationships, careers and parenting are common areas of focus.

I am a Humanistic Client-Centered Clinical Psychologist, originally trained within the Psychoanalytic orientation. I also believe in theoretical eclecticism, therefore in addition to my Humanistic orientation, I offer Cognitive/Behavioral as well as Psychodynamic approaches. Overall I strive to offer my clients the experience of "therapeutic presence" including: deep empathic listening, nonjudgmental acceptance, and therapeutic and genuineness. Recovery from psychological problems and improving overall health is best achieved when patient and clinician work together in a collaborative manner. My practice offers child adolescent and adult psychodynamic psychotherapy. Additionally motivational enhancement counseling for improved physical health and effective management of chronic health conditions is offered. All therapeutic interventions are individualized with the goal of recovery from depression anxiety and most other mental health diagnosis and disorders.

I am a training analyst and supervisor at NPAP and Blanton-Peale Institute, and a professor at CUNY. I use a psychodynamic approach allied with an interpersonal or relational orientation. I interact with clients as they come to grips with the hurtful circumstances of the past- or recent events- that have undermined self-esteem or their sense of self and resulted in poor personal choices and decision making in the present. I understand the persistence of unproductive or destructive modes of behavior, or the difficulty of seeing oneself in a new, hopeful light and acting in accord with such insight.

As a psychotherapist and healer for many years it has been my privilege to offer and provide help and comfort to people in distress.
