I work to improve the lives of individuals to cope with life's challenges within trauma, grief and loss, behavioral issues, career, mood disorders, multi-cultural and transitions counseling, difficulties with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, stress, depression/anxiety, gender and sexual identity issues and personal growth.
I would like to take this opportunity to share my process of therapy, as a blended view that embraces the whole person’s, body, mind, spirit and emotions. I place value upon the healing relationship that looks beyond simply treating a disease or disorder. A philosophy that views each person is whole but may need additional support to understand the total person. It is my philosophy that optimal health and mental wellness are connected to all areas of your life. I believe the client is always the expert on their own story and to have a respectful, informed and kind partnership that honors their own personal experiences.

My passion is to help survivors of trauma, challenging life experiences and grief events become unstuck and break the cycle of emotional pain. Often these difficult situations from the past have led to an inability to move forward in life, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and PTSD. Sometimes they lead to questioning your own faith and purpose in life. If you're feeling lost, hurt and emotionally overwhelmed and if you're looking to heal from the past so you can move forward into a brighter future, I'd love to come along side of you on your journey.

Are you finding yourself burnt out? Feeling stuck, isolated, or traumatized by current or historical events? We feel the pressure to better this world, but struggle with feelings of hopelessness and powerlessness. At times like these it is vital to reclaim spaces of joy, safety, and connection within ourselves and the world around us. I am a queer, Jewish, immigrant with firsthand experience of needing to reclaim self within larger narratives of oppression and isolation. I know that this process can often involve navigating trauma and grief. None of us can do this alone.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
