I am a licensed mental health counselor and specialize in working with adults experiencing a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma.
We are each doing the best we know how but sometimes events in our lives can overwhelm us and leave us feeling shattered. We move through life with invisible wounds that separate us from ourselves and those we love. It takes courage to be fully present in our own lives and to celebrate our unique strengths. It also takes courage to ask for help when we are struggling to cope. I will work alongside you as you learn transformative skills that empower you with more helpful thoughts, a renewed sense of presence and a safe mind-body connection.

My passion is to help survivors of trauma, challenging life experiences and grief events become unstuck and break the cycle of emotional pain. Often these difficult situations from the past have led to an inability to move forward in life, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and PTSD. Sometimes they lead to questioning your own faith and purpose in life. If you're feeling lost, hurt and emotionally overwhelmed and if you're looking to heal from the past so you can move forward into a brighter future, I'd love to come along side of you on your journey.

An awakening need for therapy may stem from feeling anxious, perfectionistic or a profound sense of loss, sadness and anger.
Trauma is something most people experience in life. However, for some people, these experiences can be soul shattering. Some events can cause us to lose all sense of ourselves as we collapse into fragmented pieces of who we once were and disconnected from who we are meant to be. I believe we all have value and purpose in this life and beyond. By utilizing a combination of talk therapy, EMDR and creative outlets, I will walk beside you as you uncover all the broken bits and pieces to rebuild the beautiful mosaic of your life after trauma

Symptoms such as depression, anxiety, panic and loss of concentration are rooted in unprocessed memories.
Most people don’t realize physical and mental health are intricately interwoven. Memory is encoded with the emotional and neurological information you experience at the time of the incident. These emotions and sensations are then released into the body when the memory is triggered. The survival functions of fight, flight or freeze shut down the immune system, thus undermining overall health. Using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), the brain reprocesses these memories, releasing and metabolizing the distress, and placing the memory squarely into your past.

Experiencing anxiety, depression, grief/loss, or a reduction in concentration/focus?Perhaps communication breakdown? It's not a matter of "if", but "when" adversity will come to test your commitment to growth, and I am here to offer a skill-based action-oriented approach with measurable results (not your typical talk therapy).

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I enjoy working with couples, individuals, and families on a variety of issues, such as trauma, relationship problems, men's issues, depression, anxiety, and grief.
Life has many hardships that impact our self-image and relationships with others. It is also very difficult to ask for help with our most personal struggles. I understand the courage it takes to engage in counseling and therefore strive to make every client feel comfortable, safe, empowered, and unashamed to share his or her vulnerabilities. I work to develop a strong therapeutic relationship with each client using genuine kindness, open-mindedness, respect, honesty, and humor.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
