I specialize in couples therapy, relationship issues, Asian mental health, PTSD & CPTSD, anxiety, grief, gay/queer folks, 1st and 2nd gen immigrants, and children of refugees.
I help people heal from childhood and intergenerational trauma. You struggle in intimate relationships, being vulnerable, feeling good enough, with overwhelming emotions and/or negative thoughts, and the exhaustion of overthinking because of past painful experiences. You’ve been dealing with the same issues for years, tried solving these problems on your own, and realize you need help. You’re looking for long term solutions to long term issues.

I support clients navigating grief, relationship challenges, and those seeking neurodiversity-affirming support. And, those who have experienced pain, disappointment, and distress from experiences in faith communities are especially drawn to my work. It is also important to acknowledge how isolating it can be to pause, deconstruct, or reconsider long-held beliefs or spiritual practices that once held a lot of hope and meaning. Or, to simply explore how embracing your full humanity and identity can be celebrated after experiences of being shamed for those aspects of you.

I believe in supporting my clients in their desire to find more wholeness, aliveness, acceptance, and peace within themselves. Using multiple modalities such as IFS, EMDR, AEDP, mindfulness and somatic techniques, and person-centered therapy, I will help you in navigating life transitions, doubt, grief, anxiety, overwhelm, and fear. By addressing troubling thoughts and feelings, self-sabotaging behaviors, and traumas, life can be made more manageable, productive, and fulfilling. Feelings such as grief, shame, anxiety, sadness, and anger often signal that something needs to change. Listening to and working with these feelings—some that consume us and others that gently nudge us—can move us forward. Through this, we sometimes discover that our everyday dilemmas are part of larger patterns waiting to be resolved as a whole.

I am a generalist, and my practice includes adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Clients approach me for a wide range of issues and concerns, which can include interpersonal or relationship problems, family conflict, grief, transitions, depression, anxiety, and the recovery from trauma or abuse. I also see individuals who simply want to live happier or more fulfilling lives. My therapeutic orientation is flexible and integrative. Most often, I utilize emotion-focused, relational, experiential, and somatic techniques. However, I ultimately strive to work in a way that optimally matches my clients' unique needs.

I am also interested in working with people who struggle with life transitions including career changes, relocation, divorce, mid-life crises, grief and loss.
As an immigrant, I understand that life is a journey and as part of that we encounter countless challenges. Going through difficult times and learning to cope with them are opportunities to become wiser and more mindful. However, life challenges can be daunting and hard to overcome. I believe that therapy can help you make sense of your circumstances and cultivate insights and awareness so that you can change and grow. I work with adults 18 and older with an emphasis on mindfulness, attachment-based and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches.

I work with clients who want more satisfaction and meaning in life and relationships. The pain of anxiety, low mood, ADHD, addictive or compulsive behaviors, transitions, loss, trauma, or relational distress motivates them to look for change. They are curious about knowing themselves more deeply, through the heart and felt-sense experience, as well as the intellect. To grow beyond the safety of the familiar self in meaningful ways, they are willing to face some discomfort and vulnerability, and commit to useful behaviors and habits. They value this one precious life they have here, and want to make the best of it.

You dream of a life that feels peaceful and exciting, challenging yet manageable, connected and secure. You know where you want to be, you’re just not sure how to get there yet. You might say “I’m sorry” more than you’d like to, feel frustrated that caring for yourself is so much harder than caring for others, or worry that you'd be a burden if you shared what you're really feeling. Maybe it's been like this for a while. One thing is sure: you’re ready for relief. You’re ready for more ease, playfulness, and joy. You’re ready to feel more connected to your loved ones. Most of all, you’re ready to look to the future with hope.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
