I specialize working with loss or those feeling lost, with sometimes both being present together.
I want to help you find solace, clarity, and a sense of ease to the things in life that seldom make sense. Often this is asking big questions in the face of life's hardest curveballs. I will encourage meaningful and honest conversations about the things in life that are challenging for you to explore. Together, we will make a space to be able to give life to the words that are difficult to say out loud and help you grow in ways that feel useful to you. This can be a painful process and most often is worth it.

I have extensive experience working with complex trauma, combat trauma, sexual trauma and grief, depression, and anxiety.
I specialize in helping adults and adolescents who are struggling through difficult life situations. My hope is that my clients will begin to emerge from the experience with strength, insight and a sense of empowerment to address the next challenge with grace. Using a strengths-based approach, I employ concepts of cognitive therapy and mindfulness to increase self-awareness and choice within life's challenges. I also use EMDR, an evidence-based approach, to help release the impact of past experiences on current emotions, thoughts and behaviors including traumatic events and childhood trauma.

Change happens! Maybe your life changed in a single event or slowly over time. It could be a loss of a person, a job, your health, or just the way things were. Sometimes the script of what you thought your world was about has flipped or no longer fits your new situation. We are in difficult times; our once reliable ways of coping and caring for ourselves may not work as well today. Even if you feel unsure of what’s possible, I can support you in finding new tools and revising your story to better fit your present needs and values. Let’s work together to discover what works best for you so you can get back to living your life.

Do you wish to develop a deeper relationship and connection with your body, breath, and your emotions? I can be a guide and support in your development. Whether you are struggling with fear, loss, grief, anger, trauma, relationship or other issues, a good portion of our exploration together will be internally focused on your felt experience. Deep wisdom and resources reside within you, and we follow together your curiosity about your own experiences. With a conscious presence, usually a slower pace than we are accustomed to, we can begin to explore and understand the meaning of these experiences.

Are you a woman who feels overwhelmed, panicky or anxious? We all crave lives that feel safe, balanced and purposeful. There are times, however, when we reach a crossroads. Maybe you are facing a personal or family crisis, a shift in identity, or a significant loss. Maybe you are wondering if "this" is all there is. You want to feel better, but you are not sure where to start. I became a yoga teacher and psychotherapist because I have been there. I sought growth and transformation from a holistic perspective; one that addressed my mind, body and spirit.

I am an integrative and culturally sensitive driven therapist who works with teens and adults to unlearn systemic inequalities and process intergenerational trauma, grief, and anxiety, so you can confidently befriend your feelings, navigate life transitions, step into authenticity, and feel more at home in yourself. Often times when we are going through something difficult, it can be hard to see our way out. This may lead to spiraling thoughts, a lost sense of security & safety, thinking "I'm not good enough", consistently feeling on edge, and feeling disconnected from ourselves and others.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
