Are you a mom-to-be or a new mother with a history of infertility, pregnancy loss, or traumatic birth experiences? You finally got a positive pregnancy test and thought you’d be happy however you are battling feelings of sadness, fear and worry.
Are you struggling with the emotional rollercoaster of infertility? Are you pregnant or postpartum and feeling overwhelmed with motherhood? Infertility and Perinatal stress is a deeply personal experience that touches every corner of your life. The frustration, the invisible battles, can lead to feelings of hopelessness, making it difficult to envision a future where you're a parent. Anxiety can lead to continuous worry about what treatment options to pursue, outcome of fertility treatments, potential complications, and the financial burden of treatments. Accepting Blue Cross Blue Shield in April 2024

My doctoral research focused TBI's impact on self-concept and grief.
Not Accepting New Clients I believe people continue to grow and foster their self-concept over time. Sudden life changes, chronic stress, and ongoing personal difficulties are challenging and affect how we adjust to life transitions. I see therapy as a process aiming to empower individuals to embrace their true self, foster self-awareness and personal growth. I aim to create a trusting environment for individuals and couples to explore recurrent patterns in relationships and cope with distressing emotions. I work with trauma survivors, first responders, law enforcement, and military families. I also specialize in couples counseling.

I’ve seen first-hand how trauma, grief and loss can affect the brain and behavior, and how therapy can strengthen resilience and begin healing.
'What worries you, masters you.' Do worries, stress and fears cause imbalance in your life? I work with individual clients to identify and reframe core beliefs and assumptions, and shift challenging patterns and behaviors. 'Love does not dominate; it cultivates.' Relationships require openness, curiosity, and trust. Couples counseling provides a nonjudgmental, distraction-free space to share and listen. Clients explore challenges, identify strengths, and mutually gain deeper understanding of themselves and the relationship. Couples therapy is self-pay only. I am licensed to serve clients living in Maryland and Virginia.

I offer help for life transitions, grief, loss, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and coaching to reinvent yourself and your relationships.
Transform feelings of unworthiness. Disconnection, a sense of not having your own voice, or being invisible and discounted… it all needs to change. It’s been too long and too costly. The expense of not taking action is affecting you emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Whether it is feeling struck in relationships, jobs or with parenting or co-parenting. Perhaps, it is struggling with depression, anxiety, illness, or a major life transition. I can help.

Willi works with individuals, couples and families on issues that include the spectrum of mood disorders, grief and loss, with multicultural heritage and culture issues.
The Apostle Paul said “each of us has one body with many members” (Romans 12:4-5). In a similar fashion, Willi Dalaba, LCSW, sees people composed of different parts that make up the whole. Physical, mental, emotional and spiritual all combine to make up an individual. A good counselor, she believes, may need to help a client bring into a better balance these different aspects of their personality. This is part of the theoretical grounding and expertise that Willi Dalaba brings to her years of counseling experience.

Are you suffering from the end of a relationship? A job? Do you feel like you are in crisis, or no longer feel like yourself? Maybe you’re realizing that your life as it is in this moment is not working for you. Perhaps you feel alone, lost, or at a loss for what to do. Congratulations on taking the first step to finding relief and taking control. Life is too short to surrender to bad relationships, hold grudges, let trauma control us, or to be anxious or angry all the time. You may feel stuck, but there is hope.

Life today can be overwhelming. Anxiety, stress, and self-doubt accompany many of us as we try to figure out who we are, and who we are trying to become. Trauma, grief, and loss are part of many people’s lives. It can be easy to lose our way. Fortunately, there are ways that we can regain our footing, find meaning in our lives, and develop healthy ways to cope with all of the challenges that come our way. This is the focus of my psychotherapy work. My practice specializes in working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, self-doubt, family conflict, and relationship difficulties.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
