On the surface it looks like anger or constant irritation, but beneath the turbulent current of destructive behaviors are emotions like sadness and grief, pain, sorrow and fear. Anger is much more preferable if a lot of your life you have felt powerless or helpless. As you might be figuring out, the power of intense, uncontrollable anger only leads to self-destruction and can deeply hurts others. Self-destruction can look a lot like being stuck, resistance to change even when miserable, using substances, or being undisciplined. It can feel lonely.
I am certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and we offer DBT skills groups for adults and teens. I also incorporate DBT into individual sessions and use other modalities of therapy such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing as appropriate. For couples I use Emotions Focused Therapy.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Groups- DBT

Adult DBT groups are ongoing/open, however, you're asked to commit to at least 8 weeks. Help with impulsive, self-destructing behaviors, poor relationships skills, and out of control emotions. This 16 week group focuses on DBT skills: mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. This group is for those who are currently seeing a therapist- or are willing to begin individual therapy- to process thoughts and feelings and need additional skills building in order to attain getter success in resolving long-standing or recurring problems. Space is limited as groups are intentionally small. Call now to set up your time to register.

DBT for Teens Ages 13-17

This group is for teens who struggle to cope effectively with their emotions and distressing situations. Your teen will attend a weekly group focusing on skill building and you, the parent(s), will learn the skills as well. Teens must have an individual therapist to participate. This open group runs 16 weeks and will begin December 2021.
