We travel various paths throughout our lives, weaving experiences together writing the story of who we are. Experiences may cause us to question the path, and suddenly our story no longer reflects the life we intended to live. At these times of questioning, we must explore how to proceed. If you find yourself looking for someone to talk with, to think through where life has led you, allow me to walk with you for a while on your journey. What meridian lines do you need to guide you to your destination? Let’s work together to find how your story shifted from your intended path, and let’s find how your journey continues.

Are you grappling with the impacts of a loss, medical diagnosis, or trauma? Loss is common to the human experience, but when it stems from the death of a loved one or a cancer diagnosis, it can be especially isolating and overwhelming. You’re asking big questions: Will I always feel like this? Is this normal? When will my suffering end? And despite trying therapy in the past or talking to your friends and family, it’s felt like no one has truly understood your experience. You’re craving warmth, safety, and radical unconditional regard—somewhere all of your emotions, questions, and fears can be freely shared and expressed.

As a therapist and Clinical Director of 25 yrs, I've helped many people during challenging situations and transitions of life. My approach is personable and holistic, blending a strong foundation of therapy knowledge, support, challenge and a dose of humor.

These common stressful experiences include isolation, choice and responsibility, perceived meaninglessness, and death or fear of death.
At the heart of my counseling approach is the conviction that everyone can heal and make changes they desire, by combining sincere intention with effective actions. When we are in session, you will have my undivided attention as I join you in clarifying and acting upon your core desires. I strive to create a space in which you feel completely safe and seen, so we may explore your unique life path together, and steer it in the most authentic and fulfilling direction. I work primarily from an existential theoretical framework, which views human suffering as deriving from experiences that cause us internal stress or confusion.

I am passionate about helping people find deeper understanding, hope, and rediscovery after loss and significant life events.
My goal as a therapist is to offer a relaxed, informal setting where we can discuss both where you came from...and where you want to go. Whether you are experiencing a significant life transition or just feeling overwhelmed with daily stressors, I will provide a safe, trusting environment to explore all of this. I believe that small shifts in thinking and behavior can have profound effects on our happiness and well-being. It's never too late (or early!) to seek positive change in our lives.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
