Heart to Heart Empowerment Services, LLC was founded by Carisa M. Gerald, LPC, NCC in June 2019 and specializes in “Healing Hearts, Empowering Minds, and Restoring Relationships One Encounter at A Time.” I have provided Individual, Family, and Group Therapy services for children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings. Some of my special interests include: anxiety, depression, grief, stress/anger management, relationships, and self-esteem. I view therapy as a partnership and enjoy working with individuals that are ready to commit to their healing journey.

As a counselor, it is my job to provide a confidential and non-judgmental environment. I understand that sometimes life can be overwhelming, and it can feel like no one understands your strife. For example, are you going through a breakup? Feeling depressed or grieving the loss of a loved one? I can help. Since counseling is not a one size fits all approach, I use a combination of therapeutic strategies for best results. Each client will receive an initial assessment to gather diagnostic and treatment planning information.

2nd Chance Counseling, LLC exists to assist its clients in Reaffirming, Restoring, and Reconnecting relationships by working with and helping individuals to create the lives they want and deserve in a meaningful and responsible manner. We encourage each of our clients to "Embrace Life Responsibly." In doing so, we offer confidentiality and privacy for each client in that he/she feels safe to share and process issues, their needs, and create achievable and realistic goals for themselves.

Looking for a different, more personal therapy experience, here it is ! I work collaboratively with you and your child/adolescent/family to develop a plan together on the second session, get a new skill each week, and see progress within 8 sessions. With 28 of years experience with children, adolescents and adults recovering from trauma,grief, emotional or behavioral challenges with educational or work-related issues in schools, group homes, rural health care clinics and military facilities. Sessions are online with a confidential platform to offer convience and accessibility to any location in South Carolina.

I believe emotional, spiritual, and physical healings begin with a strong therapeutic relationship. My person-centered approach allows my clients to establish short-term and long-term goals with the appropriate methods and interventions for success. As a counselor at Stewart Behavioral Health, I believe it's important for clients to feel that they are in a safe and non-judgmental environment, and as their counselor I strive to provide this type of atmosphere. Each treatment and session is tailored to the needs of the individual client and their presenting concerns. I allow the client to set the goals of therapy and help guide them if they need it. I have worked for Christian-based counseling agencies in the past, and if religion is important, this is something we can focus on. I also have experience with defiance, ADHD, trauma, depression, anxiety and panic attacks.
