I’m committed to providing my full attention and support in helping people work toward positive changes that align with their own values and goals. I work with adults and adolescents, and I take an eclectic and holistic approach to help with concerns that may include mental health, stress, trauma, grief, addiction, relationships, or adjusting to life changes. This may be a matter of short-term counseling to strengthen coping skills or overcome a specific challenge, or more in-depth therapy to better understand and resolve deeper patterns and issues.

I work with high functioning adults who are: experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, navigating life changes, or coping with grief or loss. My clients come from many walks of life and know that although they are functioning, things could be better and they are ready for change. I have lived experience with many of the issues I help my clients with and I know what it's like to be high functioning while masking what's going on internally.

Life is hard and there are no instructions. Sometimes we struggle with the big issues like death, anxiety, isolation and meaninglessness. Often, our relationship with family and other loved ones has has been challenging and painful. Substance use can truly destroy a life. For some there are specific quirks that are causing problems. Most of these issues require in-depth exploration; developing a better relationship to our minds, self and others; increased mindfulness and engagement with the world; and specific behavioral change. Having a trusted guide can be a great help.

You're wanting to feel alive and comfortable in your own skin, but you find yourself freezing up or overwhelmed with images from the past or stuck in ways you can't explain. While talking about it can be helpful, if you're dealing with a trauma or ingrained stress response, it gets stuck in the body and talking alone doesn't unlock the trauma patterns in the body. Body-based modalities combined with talking really help to unwind trauma patterns. If you come see me, we won't only sit in chairs talking.

Do you find yourself continuing to be triggered by life and relationships, no matter how hard you dig for answers or reflect on the past? You want more confidence and clarity in your life, but self-criticism and anxiety seem to always be below the surface. Perhaps you're seeing patterns in your relationships you want to change, but can't seem to translate that insight into a change in how your mind and body respond when you're under stress. Maybe you've been in therapy before, but are still struggling to find lasting relief from trauma, anxiety and relationship concerns.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
