It is a privilege to provide a safe, compassionate, clinically effective approach to walk people through life's trials. I offer counseling to children ages 4-12 years, adolescents, adults, families, and couples.

Self-worth. The common denominator is low self-concept and low self-esteem that was not established or through adversity, trauma, violence, and/or abuse was severely damaged. The client wants to end the emotional and psychological pain of existing. Connection, structure, and consistency are the tools that aid in healing. Living and thriving become possible when we add options and perspective.

Kami Imes (she/her) is a licensed independent social worker with a supervisory designation and a certified employee assistance professional. She earned her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Akron. Kami has a wide range of mental health experience including providing counseling for individuals and families in hospital, hospice, and outpatient settings. She has worked with adult clients on issues including but not limited mood disorders, adjustment disorders, life transitions, anxiety disorders and grief.

The Ohio University Psychology and Social Work Clinic (PSWC) is here to help with comprehensive assessment and therapy services. The PSWC is a supportive, affirming outpatient mental health clinic that is primarily staffed by doctoral student therapists of the OU Clinical Psychology program under the supervision of licensed psychologists. We offer evidence-based outpatient individual, family, and group therapy. In addition, the PSWC is able to provide comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological assessments for concerns such ADHD, learning disabilities, dementia, and more.

My goal as a therapist is to provide you with a safe, comfortable, and friendly environment to work through your individual or family challenges. I aim to help you navigate the complex world that we live in. Whether the challenges you and your family face are related to the current stressors in your life, or past trauma you have experienced, I will work with you to identify the core issue and obtain the skills needed to help you develop a healthy and rewarding life. My primary focus is currently working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families, but I also have experience working with adults.

My professional journey has been shaped by a commitment to providing compassionate support and understanding to individuals on their path to mental well-being. Within the realm of counseling, I specialize in various areas, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), LGBTQIA+ affirmative counseling, ADHD, substance abuse, personality disorders, grief, chronic illness, pregnancy, prenatal and postpartum care, sleep/insomnia management, trauma, and PTSD.

My favorite question to ask a new client is: 'What will life look like one day when you come into my office and say, 'life is smooth, I'm succeeding, and I don't need counseling any longer?’ We will begin working with this goal in mind. The idea isn't to be in counseling forever, but to learn some skills for your life's toolbox to help you handle the journey you are on and setting the stage for wholeness that lasts a lifetime. I'm honored to be included in your journey and story and I’m ready to work alongside of you during your current season in life.

Counseling For Wellness believes that counseling is an individual experience. We practice a collaborative and person centered approach for an all-encompassing therapeutic experience; incorporating CBT, EMDR, mindfulness, yoga, nutrition, neuroscience, essential oils, community resources, reiki, and psycho-education. I currently have limited openings for taking new clients. My treatment specialties include- mood disorders, eating/body image disorders, & weight re-stabilization. My diversified counseling/teaching background: agencies settings, community-based organizations, eating disorder clinics, private practice and college counseling centers.
