In addition to being a multi-state licensed professional psychotherapist in Texas and NJ; I am also a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, and I am fully qualified to help you explore that.
How has pain colored your lens? Clouded your thoughts and decision making? Impacted your interpersonal relationships? Work/School life? Most people don't realize that if pain goes unattended; it impacts every area of our lives; including how we see and experience the world and the people in it. Unattended to pain opens the door to destructive behavior patterns and declining motivation. Pain can show up in addictions, somatic/psychotic manifestation, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, etc. When explored with the aide of a professional, that same pain can be utilized to help you discover the best version of yourself.

Utilizing evidenced based treatment modalities, we will work together in addressing trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, and stress-related issues.
Hi! I am looking to work with women and people of color to help with a myriad of concerns, such as life transitions, stressors, anxiety, trauma, and depression. I recognize how these concerns impact women and people of color due to societal pressures and expectations. There is no need to work through it alone. Allow me to work with you as you take steps to achieve your goals. As a warm, empathetic clinician, I value a judgement-free space where we can work together to enhance your strengths and add skills to overcome various obstacles, process difficult emotions, and create goals to help you get to where you want to be.

There is special pain in people's experiences of disappointment, loss, and dehumanization from sources they hoped and believed would be trustworthy-religion, family, school, work, and personal relationships.
Welcome. I am a pastorally trained psychotherapist who works with people who are struggling with painful and difficult issues, events, people, and feelings-without quite getting to where they want to be. The work I do and like best is joining you in understanding the story of that struggle and moving it forward. The main personal values I bring to that work and offer to you are kindness, respect, and enthusiasm-with a premium on honesty, openness and curiosity from both of us. I view my work with clients and their stories as a powerful healing partnership.

My ideal client would be a middle-aged woman struggling with depression and anxiety and grieving the loss of a child, husband, or a close family member. I would start by assessing her needs and using the Beck depression inventory scale and the Beck depression anxiety inventory scale. I would use grounding techniques and CBT, such as scheduling activities, positive affirmations, and psycho-education on depression and anxiety. I would also encourage journaling, writing five things for which they are thankful daily, and writing letters to the deceased person.

It is to walk alongside you in times of transition, stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, and grief.
You have had days that make you feel like switching off the sun, crawling underneath your skin, and checking out from this catastrophic cantankerous world. You have been emotionally shipwrecked by life, fragmented by negative experiences, and you feel broken beyond repair. Yesterday was too much, today you're drowning in the sea of despair; and, tomorrow should not see the light of day. Existing feels like too much to ask, survival seems impossible, and you're thinking, "I can't do this..." Maybe you can't, but we can, and we will. You may feel alone, but you are not alone. You may sway and bend, but you will never break.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
