I have spent the last 15 years working with young adults, college students, and veterans/first responders facing major trauma, grief, depression, and anxiety.
Immediate openings. The difficulties of life grip us in ways both obvious and unseen. Life has a way of happening at inconvenient times and counseling can assist in navigating the emotional difficulties and consequences with someone who is non-judgmental and supportive. I strive to view the world through your lens while helping you recognize your strengths and build resiliency through proven techniques so that you can lead a successful and comfortable life. I hope to have the opportunity to support you through this difficult time.

Are you struggling with processing the loss of a job, the death of a loved one or a difficult breakup or divorce? Are you wondering if you’re ever going to be able to feel “normal” again? Maybe you’re dealing with a major life transition, like moving to a new city or starting college. Wherever you are right now, grief and loss can take many different shapes for each person, but they always has a deep impact on us. Some people struggle to get through the day, while others might find that it’s hard to maintain the relationships that matter to them.

My mission is to guide people through loss and trauma toward acceptance and healing. Therapy isn't a space where we "fix ourselves," but rather where we find ourselves in our pain and discover how strong we are in the process. Going to therapy is self-empowerment. It means making a conscious decision to start exploring and accepting all parts of self so that you can feel empowered to live your best life. As a clinician, I meet each client where they are, honor their individuality and unique life experience, and co-create a space where they can feel—and heal—trauma, loss, and grief.

Often times we find ourselves feeling frustrated with relationships, either at home or at work. Perhaps we are in transition, adjusting to major life events such as the loss of a job, loss of a significant person, or caring for an aging parent. Utilizing a supportive, non-judgmental, collaborative and engaged therapeutic relationship, I can help you understand those internal barriers, with the goal of relieving those symptoms.

I work to support major life changes, loss, & sudden grief.
People need people. Trust your gut to know that something led you to reach out. You are stronger than you feel. It's possible for things to be different. What happened does not have to define you. I specialize in helping with depressive struggles to feel connected again and empowered. I work to build self-esteem back. Speaking the truth can feel like a weight is finally lifted. Grounding techniques can help you feel more in control. You deserve to be listened to right now.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
