An Invitation to come as you are...Sometimes it's easy to forget or move away from who you are and your story. There are many life circumstances that may impact and influence how you feel about and perceive yourself as well as others. Shame, guilt, fear, anxiety, anger, disappointment, sadness, illness, grief, loss and broken relationships are a part of many peoples' life stories yet sometimes it can be difficult to accept those parts of one's journey. I invite you to come with all the pieces of who you are and share your story.

My clinical specialties include working with adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, has difficulties managing work/life balance, suffering from grief and loss, as well as women's issues and phase of life problems.
Entering an intimate space with yourself is no easy task. But with the help of someone you trust, it makes the journey a bit easier to embrace. It is my belief that my job as a therapist is to help my clients connect the dots within their lives to enhance their mental health. This is done by unpacking, exploring and examining roadblocks from our past that are preventing us from being present in the present. This type of awareness helps to foster continual growth & grants access to understanding the story behind our behaviors.

I specialize in trauma, suicide and grief and I approach these issues collaboratively with you to find the best way forward.
Whether its the pain of trauma or the onset of a new, overwhelming change in your life, it can become harder and harder for you to be at peace and feel empowered. You may know deep down that something feels wrong, but also feel lost when it comes to addressing these difficulties. Furthermore, these challenges can make you feel isolated from the very relationships you'd hope would sustain you through these difficult times.

Hi there! Do you feel stuck in a constant tug-of-war with painful thoughts? The pain of anxiety, conflict, grief, and traumatic experiences is real and deep. The experience of healing in relationship with a compassionate, skilled therapist is often deeper still. To thrive, human beings must constantly grow and learn. Do you want to center your life around the things that matter most to you? Therapy can help shift your life in those directions.

You may have suffered greatly internally and contemplated making a change. When the time comes, the risk to remain tight in a bud can be more painful than the risk it takes to blossom. If you are ready to improve your self-esteem, or seek healing from trauma, or overcome a depressive episode, or rebuild healthy relationships, I am here to guide and walk with you in your journal of growth and transformation. As a clinical and research psychologist and former assistant professor, I actively incorporate 14 years of clinical experience and research evidence working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples in my work with clients.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
