I have experience and knowledge working with individuals who live with; depression, anxiety, bi-polar, personality disorders, schizophrenia, PTSD, substance abuse disorder, suicide and self-harm, LGBTQ+, and grief. I have an education in evidence-based therapies, such as but not limited to: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, motivational interviewing, harm-reduction, and SMART recovery. My job, as I see it, is not to fix you, but to help you fix yourself. To do that, I help you find the tools you already have and remind you that - on some deep level - you already know how to use them. My approach is cognitive, because I believe the way we think about our lives helps create them.

Kristin Camorlinga, LCPC, received her Masters in Counseling from Loyola University in 2012. She specializes in working with children, adolescents and their families and has been doing so in different capacities since 1995. She has counseled bilingually in many settings including three schools, a domestic abuse shelter, two non-for-profits and two community public health agencies. She is passionate about helping people overcome mental health difficulties so they can reach their greatest potential and live their best life.

Welcome! I believe that one of the essential ingredients of change and transformative psychotherapy is the relationship between the individual and the therapist. Feeling understood and comfortable not only helps reduce one's symptoms, encouraging self-acceptance, but also leads toward deeper work which promotes lasting change and a deeper experience of one's unique self.

Education and Training: Mrs. Simona Stanila received her Bachelor's Degree in Education, Literature and Languages from the University of Bucharest, Romania and her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology (MACL) from Argosy University, Schaumburg, Illinois. She is currently working towards her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology (Psy. D. ) at Argosy University, Chicago, Illinois. During her Practicum for her Master's Degree, Mrs. Simona Stanila worked at the Streamwood Behavioral Health Center in Illinois as a part of the Advanced Crisis Therapy (ACT) unit.

I view therapy as a step towards a more content and peaceful way of being, and approaches every individual, couple or family in an open and supportive manner. I provide guidance and encouragement towards change through building self-awareness and empowerment. I offer services via telehealth/video and in person to provide the environment that is most comfortable for you.

I have been providing psychological services to Mchenry county for the last 17 years. My experience is diverse and my approach to therapy is evidenced-based. I comprehend mental health issues from not only a psychological, but also from a social and neurological perspective. With this being stated I have developed a unique and comprehensive understanding of my clients. I have worked with several challenging clients and pride myself in my ability to modify treatment interventions for each client's unique needs. Essentially treatment is a team approach and I am here to walk with the client on the path to recovery.
