Hi, my name is Maria Mangiardi, and I hold an LCPC license. My approach to therapy is looking at the total mind, body, and spirit of a person and how all areas of life can affect mental health. I specialize in a variety of areas, such as Anxiety, Depression, LGBTQ, and OCD, to name a few. I look at the totality of a person because I find that possible medical issues, relationship issues, and environmental influences can be a factor. I typically work with adults over the age of 18. I have many clients that question their life relationships, stressors, and internal struggles.

I firmly believe that challenges have the potential to usher in opportunities for healing and personal growth. In my practice, I create a nurturing space where individuals, including Spanish-speaking clients, can experience understanding, support, and empowerment. I hold the genuine conviction that effective therapy hinges on the development of an authentic and collaborative relationship between the therapist and the client. With this foundation, I guide clients in navigating complex emotions, addressing detrimental thought patterns, and enhancing factors that may be impeding their overall quality of life.

I have worked on issues with self-esteem, grief, anxiety, stress, along with other things.
Asking for help is not always easy. Looking and actually going to see a therapist is not any easier. Acknowledging that help is needed is a huge step in your recovery and seeing your therapist another. It takes a lot of bravery to do that and I applaud you for it. My goal as your therapist is to provide you with the safe space where you will feel understood and validated. You are the expert in your own life, but together we can walk the journey into bettering how you feel and work through what is holding you down.

The above mentioned psychological problems often originate, in part, from factors such as lack of knowledge, deficient communication and social skills, distorted thought patterns, maladaptive personality styles, low self-esteem, resentments associated with childhood abuse, emotional neglect, and partner abuse, or a devastating loss of any kind.
THE SKYPE TREATMENT IS OFFERED AT EXTREMELY LOW FEE Emotional stress resulting from our own erroneous beliefs, problematic relationships, and stressful life circumstances can compromise our mental health. I firmly believe that my pragmatic therapeutic style and clinically proven treatment approaches can be highly instrumental in helping you learn effective ways to resolve your emotional pain, and develop practical skills and effective coping styles to ultimately take charge of your own mental health. The central focus of my practice is the treatment of Relationship Issues including Marital/Couples' Issues and Parent-Child Conflicts, Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, and Anger Control Problems.

I work with adults and teens who have experienced a trauma/PTSD, or who are facing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, body image issues, grief and loss, or major life changes.
I believe therapy should be a safe place for you to identify your innate strengths, deepen your sense of self, and find solutions for the things that challenge you in life. When I work with clients, I use a strengths-based and client-centered approach incorporated with empathy, acceptance and compassion. I whole-heartedly believe that sensitivity is power and being vulnerable is a form of strength!

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
