My calling is to serve children and adults who deal with a variety of emotional and behavioral imbalances due to psychological trauma or other stressors. As a trauma and DBT-certified therapist, I work with my clients toward the restoration of their emotional wellness by integrating aspects of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapies (DBT), as well as ART therapy, play therapy, and mind-body practices. Dr. Lawanda Harmon has been actively working in the field of mental health since 2010. With a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling obtained from Walden University, she began working at Community Friendship Inc. as an individual and group therapist. Lawanda continued to pursue her education at the doctoral level, obtaining a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Walden University. During her practicum and internship field experiences, she gained extensive training in Cognitive and Behavioral techniques as well as in Emotional, Personality, and Trauma focused interventions at Atlanta Center for Family Wellness in Atlanta, Georgia.

As a licensed psychologist, I am passionate about helping clients through a variety of life's challenges. I provide evaluations to address areas of concern including Attention-Deficit-Disorder (ADD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and learning differences including learning disorders. My psycho-educational assessment services include consulting with schools and when warranted observing in classrooms. I provide ongoing psychotherapy services for such children that are experiencing academic difficulties to address problem areas across domains including school and home life using a supportive and solution-focused approach.
