It is an honor to hold someone's heart as they journey through healing and unfold into the individual they desire to be. Traumas, attachment trauma, and life challenges such as loss, depression and anxiety can leave us feeling empty, lost and wondering if life will ever improve. Finding the right prescription of modalities is vital for healing.

My professional experience includes individual, couple, family and group practice with populations struggling with substance abuse, trauma, grief, depression, codependency and transitions.
Sometimes we are blindsided by curve balls in life, overwhelmed with parenting, we may become sick and tired of feeling sick and tired, or maybe we are frustrated because we want a change we do not know how to realize. As a solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is satisfying to you. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life.

Therapy can also be a support during times of crisis or loss.
Searching for a therapist can be an overwhelming process. It is difficult to reach out for help when you are in emotional distress or pain, but the rewards to your life and well-being are worthwhile. For our time to be effective, it is important that you feel able to communicate openly and honestly. My certification in EMDR allows me to bring the mind, emotion, and body into our sessions and treat clients more holistically. I specialize in working with trauma and healing from difficult childhood experiences that may be affecting your present day life.

Is life not making sense? Do things feel out of control? Do you wonder when you will breathe again? The only way to face life is with deep trust in your capabilities. I work primarily with adults and couples of color within the BIPOC spectrum. Let's work together to communicate better, build self-trust, reduce codependence, establish boundaries, and overcome anxiety. Whether navigating major life changes, trying to make the best decisions, facing challenges, or overcoming the past, I am here to get you over that "hump." My approach is rooted in a holistic perspective, where I consider your interests and strengths beyond the symptoms you may be experiencing. I firmly believe that therapy should be individualized and collaborative, tailored to meet your unique needs. As a certified hypnotherapist, I leverage various techniques to ensure a personalized experience, including the application of interpersonal neurobiology. Therapy is a profoundly cathartic journey, one that may require us to confront challenging experiences and navigate through difficult emotions.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
