Do you love someone who has an addiction? Have you recently lost someone close to you? Are you coming to terms with the effects of an affair or having relationship difficulties? Addiction, infidelity, grief, and loss are things that many of us struggle with and during these times it can be easy to lose sight of what we need or what makes our lives have meaning. I have found that acceptance, gratitude, and building resilience help us through our most trying times. Having done this work at many important junctures in my life, I offer my assistance to those who are going through these and other difficult life transitions.

Life is full of change and the unexpected. Have you been blindsided by one of the many curveballs life can throw at you? Do you feel overwhelmed, lost, or directionless? Realigning after a huge change- be it the loss of a loved one, separation/divorce, job change, health shift, or even college graduation- can be a challenging process. I love to help people adjust, grow, and transform though these shifts, seeing the forest through the trees to come to a fuller, more centered perspective on all that life still has to offer. Finding our way back to peace can be demanding and we could all use some support in this process.

I work with clients who have trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, relationship issues and more.
My ideal client is an individual who is willing to work. I have a passion for helping clients learn more about who they are and how to fully accept both the good and the bad with in them. This understanding of who we are, will always lead to a healthier state of mind. For me there is no greater reward then seeing a client reach that AH-HA moment that true inner growth and self-awareness connects.

Working together, addressing issues you choose to work on whether they be relationships, anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction issues, grief and loss of a 2 legged or 4 legged loved one, or any concerns which might be presenting obstacles to living your best life.
Therapy is about you, it can help you learn to take control of your life and respond to challenging situations in new and satisfying ways. When you are feeling sad or anxious, having difficulty with relationships and important life choices, psychotherapy may be helpful by exploring strategies for managing anxiety or depression, reducing relationship tensions or couples conflicts, and coping skills for daily stress. The therapeutic relationship creates a unique safe space, I view it as a collaboration an environment where we can work together in an environment of mutual trust.

Do you have a sense of loss or sadness that won't go away? Do you often feel angry or disappointed by others? Are you sleepless at night with overwhelming worry? Do you experience a sense of numbness or emptiness? We have about 70,000 thoughts a day. Many are a replay of past experiences that create an inner sense or feeling that seems to take hold. Add to that traumatic experiences and sometimes life can feel difficult. Unfortunately most of us haven't been taught how to manage feelings and so we often develop coping tools that keep us feeling safe for a while until the next trigger comes along.

The ups and downs of life can trigger crisis; leaving us confused, emotionally upset, and sometimes leading to dysfunctional coping. We do not have control over all situations in life but finding meaning and purpose in these times can provide a framework for personal growth and development. I love to work with those who want to understand the origins of their problems, experiencing life transitions, problems in essential relationships, depression, and childhood trauma or loss. Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
