This type of therapy is beneficial for stress, anxiety, and grief.
Through play and music therapy, we can devise plans, which help one find their calm, and recognize worn patterns, allowing one to initiate positive change. Play and music therapy works whether you are young, transitional age, or a mature adult finding your way through changes in life. Music therapy has positive impacts reconnecting our mind, and emotions to our body through the discovery of underlying patterns and deeper psychology. These patterns sometimes cause negativity or depressive behaviors. Individuals who become aware of these patterns are better able to free their self from well-worn paths no longer serving positive ways.

I enjoy helping kids facing life challenges as trauma, school problems, or health issues and who may experience anxiety, depression or loss.
I enjoy working with clients of all ages. My specialty is children, adolescents and young adults. I am relationship based, meaning it is important for my clients to feel comfortable with me. . I incorporate educational information and skill development into sessions and role model and practice new skills. Cognitive behavior therapy is the foundation for much of the work we do. Children often express their feelings best in play. I often utilize games, art , stories and imaginative play to help children communicate their feelings. Parents of children are integral to the success of therapy and become partners in the treatment of their son or daughter.

Do you ever feel like you're drifting apart from yourself and those around you? Are your own needs consistently relegated to the bottom of your never-ending to-do list? Do you often ponder whether life should feel more fulfilling and joyful? In today's turbulent world, it's not uncommon to experience feelings of anxiety, overwhelm, and uncertainty, especially when it comes to managing the complexities of relationships, careers, and everyday life. The tendency to neglect self-care and push aside personal needs can result in long-term repercussions for both your mental and physical well-being.

Parents, are you finding yourself exhausted from having yet another argument with your spouse about what to do with your children who continue to behave poorly? Or perhaps you look around at your family and feel sad that you aren’t connecting the way you used to. Your child may be moody, anxious, or seem depressed and you don’t know why or how it came to be this way. You would like support and some extra tools in your toolbox to handle the family stress and are in dire need of some relief.

I'm qualified to help with a variety of challenges; however, I specialize in helping clients with anxiety, trauma, people-pleasing, boundaries, ADHD/ADD, career, parenting, intimacy, grief, and finding purpose.
Can't focus? Are you overstimulated or struggling with negative thoughts, painful memories, imposter syndrome, self-esteem, or decreased motivation? Do you fall into patterns in relationships, friendships, or work and wish you could break the cycle? Sometimes, it isn't obvious why we do the things we do, but we can sense we're not our most authentic or successful self. Even when we know the cause of our distress, changing our behavior can still be hard. That's where I come in. My job is to listen without judgment, pressure, or bias and help you examine the root causes of your challenges to create the change you want in your life.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
