I am a specialist in grief, loss and trauma encompassing the entire spectrum of women's maternal mental health. I help women(and their partners) with healthy pregnancies, postpartum depression and anxiety, pregnancy loss, terminations and infertility - whether through stillbirth, miscarriage, late term loss, IVF/IUI failures, selective termination or pregnancy releases (aka abortion). Sadly, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage and 1 in 8 will have trouble with conception. I blend psychology, ritual, spirituality, reiki, energy healing, guided meditations and more to help facilitate and support women, couples and families.

It can be hard to find places where we are seen, and can see ourselves, with accuracy and empathy. I would be honored to provide you with that space and to walk alongside you as we explore your most important concerns. If you are a couple, I can help you break your negative cycles of communication to reach a more compassionate understanding of one another. If you are a young adult facing the stressors of adulthood for the first time, I can help you find clarity and direction. And if you are grieving, whether it be the ending of a relationship, a death or a major life transition, I can support you and help you to make sense of it.

Sometimes, life can be a bit daunting. Between big life decisions, tragedies, and even days when nothing seems to go right, it's easy to get down, anxious, and feel overwhelmed. I work with adults and adolescents who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, life's transitions, or need a space of their own to share openly free from bias or judgement.

Many clients come to me depressed, grief stricken, or at a loss for where to proceed in their lives. Faulty thinking can block the ability to realize new options for thoughts and behaviors. Training, wisdom, and life experiences allow me to help guide my clients to their best therapeutic path, to personalize treatment, and to help them find their purpose. I work with trauma survivors, people with disabilities, life transitions, crises, hospice care, death, and chronic anxiety. I'm also trained to support artists through their creative struggles. That process provides them the foundation to strengthen them for any future challenges.

Whether it's grief/loss, anxiety, depression, self esteem or relationship challenges, or life transitions (such as midlife/menopause), I’m here to help guide you toward a life with more ease.
Life can feel very overwhelming, so I’m glad you are here seeking support! We all have strengths and inner resources, but sometimes our ability to access them is clouded. Sometimes we believe an old, limiting story about who we are or how we are supposed to be. Sometimes we just feel stuck. Life can feel more difficult than expected - relationships can suffer, and connection can feel elusive. I have the life experience and clinical training to help. In therapy, we will shift the focus toward creating your preferred story, allowing your authentic self to emerge.

My emphasis is on women and their empowerment, whether in relation to trauma or loss, to job-related struggles and Me Too experiences, or because of the challenges of aging and loss.
I came to the practice of psychotherapy because I believe life's crises, however painful, also provide opportunities for profound change and growth. Therapy should be a safe space for patients to assess what is meaningful and what has been outgrown, what has been lost and what can be gained by working through that loss. Many of my clients work (or play) in the arts; many are trauma survivors. I run a weekly trauma group for women with PTSD. I am an empty nester and particularly interested in women dealing the changes that come with aging - women facing the "third act" of their lives.

Being human is messy and hard, and all too often, you can feel alone in facing your suffering. You feel isolated, cut off, like nobody else gets what you're going through–whether that be grief, depression, systemic oppression, trauma, or any other human affliction. While the original experiences were hard, your sense of aloneness makes them worse; they stick with you and shape the way you interact with the world, like tightly-wound knots that never get a chance to loosen.

"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves." - Victor Frankl. To me, to be human is to experience loneliness, fear, doubt, death, loss, and other emotions. When you are "stuck" in your feelings, experiencing hopelessness, helplessness, sadness, or feeling overwhelmed, talking with others opens new opportunities and allows for a different perspective. I am here because I am passionate about this process. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere to do this work. I hope to work, think, and feel with you as we explore these challenges together.

Waitlist for new clients
I specialize in helping people cope with grief and loss in a healthy way.
Have you lost someone you love? Maybe they passed away, or maybe they are still around, but the situation has changed. You might feel lost and confused, as though you are a stranger in your own life. Standing in the sun, you feel chilled and alone. Or you may feel relatively well, but deep down you know there is "a lot to process". You can stuff your feelings, but it won't be so simple to move on. You want to feel healthy, comfortable, to UNDERSTAND, and know that you can not only survive this experience but also transform it, transcend it, and make peace with your demons.

I work with adults and couples who are experiencing loneliness, depression, anxiety, loss, grief, life transitions, new parenthood, and/or who would like to process current or past trauma.
I strongly believe in the healing power of a safe therapeutic space and human connection to build resilience and foster a more fulfilling life. I strive to co-create a safe space that is warm, collaborative, and empathic so that, together, we can process and integrate past or current traumatic or disruptive experiences, and explore questions of identity, self-concept, and interpersonal relationships. My client-centered, trauma-informed, and integrative approach lends itself to meeting my clients where they are at and walking alongside you as you uncover the strengths and tools within to face life’s challenges.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
