Are you experiencing grief and loss? Are you navigating health challenges or chronic illness? Do you have parts of yourself that are difficult to share with others? Have you experienced medical or relational/attachment trauma? You've come to the right place. As a queer therapist with chronic illness, I draw from both professional and lived experiences. I believe that therapy can be a reparative experience and that the relationship between a therapist and client can foster immense change and growth. I see clients both via telehealth or outdoors at a local park.

We go to therapy for many reasons: to untangle old patterns, to seek relief from emotional pain, to move through grief, to develop our capacity in relationships, to know ourselves more deeply. Everyone’s therapy experience is unique to them. Some of the ways that we might work together include: exploring what you feel and how you express it, noticing how your past experiences are influencing your present, and what calls your attention when it has space to be heard. We will have the opportunity to slow down dynamics and work with them. This is all approached with curiosity, collaboration, and compassion.

I am a dedicated mental health therapist with a specialization in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, infertility, parenting struggles, and grief.
Are you a new parent experiencing an overwhelming range of emotions, where joy and happiness have become clouded by persistent feelings of sadness, worry, and fear? Are uncontrollable racing thoughts making it hard to quiet your mind and enjoy parenthood? It’s not uncommon to experience guilt, self-doubt, and have thoughts that you’re failing as a parent. In the midst of all this, seeking help can be a difficult step, but it's a crucial one on the path to healing and regaining a sense of self and well-being.

The most significant predictor of a successful therapy experience is the quality of the relationship between therapist and client. Building a safe, nurturing relationship is where I excel. My style is warm and highly interactive, best suited for clients who prefer a therapist who feels very "human." I assist clients to explore their thought patterns and corresponding emotional responses, and to identify unconscious assumptions they hold about themselves and the world, which inform behavior patterns. I also provide practical tools for regulating anxiety, managing depression, and processing grief.

Hello! I am a life transition and grief therapist for Highly Sensitive People (HSPs). I assist young and mid-life adult HSPs overcome fear of the unknown and step into new seasons of life with courage and confidence. As an HSP, you have a lot of empathy and may have survived emotional neglect as a child. As result, you may have forged your own path. However, when starting something new you can feel stuck, overwhelmed, and mired in the paralysis of perfectionism or disappointing others. If you are grieving a loss as an HSP, you may feel like a burden to others and elect to navigate grief alone.

I enjoy working with both couples and individuals who are grappling with a variety of life challenges; life changes, including health issues, career goals, trauma, loss, anxiety or mood disorders.
If we have learned anything from the pandemic, it is that we all need and thrive in relationships. Therapy is an important tool for developing and nurturing positive relationships, both with others and with yourself. Using my training as a marriage and family therapist, my life experiences and love of people, I foster a safe, warm, non-judgmental environment. I believe that it is not the challenges or traumas that form us, but how we respond to them. Collaboratively we can build resiliency as we discover and heal the obstacles that interfere with you having a deeper, more meaningful life.

I am bilingual, Spanish-speaking, with over 14 years of experience providing culturally sensitive counseling addressing grief, relationship issues, mood disorders, gender identity, and the LGBTQ community.
I strongly believe the power to change is inside each one of us. We have the power to change ourselves, which in turn can help shape our environments, and help us feel better. Change may not come easily, but with some hard work and help, we are able to achieve our fullest potential.

I work to support people through their individual process of growth and change while embracing hope, mistakes, joy, loss, humor, and confusion.
Being alive is infinitely complicated. It's wonderful, embarrassing, scary, and exciting. Aliveness can mean so many different things to each person based on their past experiences of self, family, relationships, and systems. In my therapeutic practice, I hold space for this infinite variance, and the struggle to know and communicate it to others. I also maintain a fundamental belief in the possibility and power of connection. Connection allows people to inhabit themselves and their relationships in new ways. It allows for exploration of emotions and desires, and a growing capacity for self-awareness and self-integration.

I work with individuals and couples and specialize in relationships, anxiety, maternal mental health, cultural identity/generation gaps, boundary setting, and grief.
Welcome! Therapy should be practical and approachable. As a relationship specialist, my collaborative focus is on the "why" of where you are. When we understand why, we can navigate the hurdles getting in your way with insight and healthy coping skills that are effective. You will not be alone in this; we will be working together on expanding awareness of your thoughts, feelings and ways that you engage with the world. This process opens up space for healthier, more intentional relationships that you can actually enjoy (including the one with yourself)! At the core of my practice is an authentic, warm and compassionate presence.

I have an extensive background in treating the adjustment to chronic illness or, loss and grief, couples or relationship issues, end-of-life issues, infertility, pregnancy/infant/child loss, and life transitions.
Do you feel stuck or overwhelmed? Uncertain how to move forward? Coping with a chronic illness? Struggling with a loss in your life? Do you feel disconnected from your partner? Humaning is hard, therapy should not be. When we begin to understand ourselves better, life becomes much easier to journey through. We start to choose how we want to live instead of reacting to what life brings us. I am passionate about helping my clients find a solid sense of self, while staying emotionally connected with others. I strive to create a safe, genuine, supportive, and compassionate environment in which a lasting positive change can be made.

Have you ever been lost in a dark forest? You may have felt helpless, out of control, very scared, or confused. Perhaps you suffer from anxiety, depression, and grief. If so you need someone to hold your hand and walk with you until you get home safely. When you are going through very painful suffering, your brokenness can lead you to discover how your childhood wound might affect your self-esteem and your relationships. I like to work with adult women who have been abused as a child, battered women (intimate partner abuse), and young adult women with childhood wounds.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
