I'm a counselor that specializes in children and adolescents, but has a wide scope of experience, ranging from severe mental illness, to parenting, to women's empowerment, and grief. I believe that the best counseling experience is derived when a person feels empowered enough to challenge their own comfort zone and explore their vulnerability, and I actively work to be the counselor that a client can do that with.

Daily changes can make the journey through life transitions difficult at times. The pathway can be impeded with barriers and obstacles that create a sense of helplessness and hopelessness. I allow the client to freely acknowledge their need for help and allow the patient to accept the responsibility to take charge and conquer their circumstances. I will enable the client to develop the tools needed to make positive life adjustments.

My ideal client is one that perhaps is dealing with feelings of fear, anger, envy, uncertainty, depression, perhaps amplified by strong religious convictions and spiritual uncertainty. They are particularly uncomfortable with being vulnerable often negligent in discussing feelings and issues of religion and spirituality, but will allow a few conversations to explore what their particular and specific issues and beliefs may be, including past traumas and sexual abuse issues. This client would be open to exploring their spirituality (not religion) as a means of developing and improving coping skills and spiritual strategies.

I have helped many children and teens overcome the obstacles to achieving success in behavior modification, emotional stability, academics and social relationships. I specialize in treating at-risk children and teens that suffer from behavioral/emotional issues that prevent healthy development.

The focus of our practice, is to assist adults, children, and families with obtaining relatable therapy, to reach goals. With child and adolescent clients our focus is similar, with the addition of close communication with the family. Moreover, with child and adolescents, we will focus on depression, impulsive behavior, limited attention span, oppositional/defiant behaviors, dishonesty, and social issues in school/home. Family and/or friends are welcome in your sessions for support. We do offer 430p-630p, and weekend appointments.

In my 20 +years in counseling, there is no such thing as "ideal". We have a norm that's not normal so I apply techniques applicable to each individual situation. We're all different and yet the same!
