We all have difficult experiences during our lives. These can include loss, grief, change, death of a loved one, illness, and many other situations that disrupt our lives and sense of self. During these challenging times it is important to feel heard and seen. I am here to listen and to help my clients find and nurture their own strengths to manage through and grow from difficult experiences. Change can be sad, scary, and exciting, but it is my goal to help my clients work through all of these feelings.

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, LGBT issues, professional and personal identity, transition, relationship issues, substance abuse, veterans issues, and grief and loss.
During our lives, we encounter experiences that can move us away from a direct connection to ourselves. Influences from family, friends, peers, jobs, and the greater culture can affect how we view and express ourselves. We can become conditioned to thinking, feeling and behaving in a way that is incompatible with who we really are and what we want in our lives. This compromises our ability to value our unique identity and to express and apply ourselves, and our strengths. I will help you to identify, understand and remove barriers that are keeping you from realizing your fullest potential. I offer Telehealth only in California.

I have gained extensive experience in working with trauma, loss, gender identity, + aging/health issues.
Currently accepting new clients. Trauma, attachment, + identity impact people in different ways. Do you often feel detached or numb? Do you avoid thinking about the past or self-medicate? Are you concerned about your parenting? Do you often find yourself in difficult relationships? Are you concerned about your memory? Do you feel sad or anxious a lot? Are you "stuck" in the same pattern? Do you have trouble trusting people? Are you irritable most of the time? Do you feel like you don't know yourself or your purpose? Do you feel incomplete or want meaning in life? If you answered yes to any-I believe I could be a good fit for you.

I believe humans are best seen through our relationships: with our parents, siblings, friends; with those who harmed us and even the relationships between the different parts of our self. Where difficult relationships have caused pain, healthy relationships can facilitate healing. I believe counseling can be one such relationship. I have worked with people of all ages, and particularly enjoy working with teens and young adults. I work well with a number of mental health challenges, such as: depression, anxiety, trauma, grief as well difficulty adjusting to life stressors and transitions.

Are you impacted by trauma and unsure how to escape its grip on your life? Perhaps you experience the past invading the present – along with the original sensations, emotions, images, and thoughts – in the form of PTSD symptoms when you encounter triggers. You might find yourself trapped in the throes of depression or an existential crisis, grappling with a profound loss of meaning and purpose that has left you feeling uncertain or without a sense of the future. It is possible to heal from the past and regain a sense of peace, meaning, and joy.

Being human is a messy experience. It’s full of the ache to be cherished, to be loved, to feel a sense of belonging. While riddled with inevitable grief, loss, and suffering. It takes courage to love again even in our awareness of the potential heartbreak, to show up in the world as ourselves, to be vulnerable in fear of rejection, and move towards the things we fear. If you are facing sadness, anxiety, trauma, dependence, finding & contacting a therapist may be just as daunting a process! You are already closer to living your fullest life and truest self by acknowledging you need to look for a therapist!

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
