I enjoy working with people who are undergoing life transitions, are processing grief and loss, and/or are working through past trauma.
We all have moments in life when we need a little extra support, care, and connection. I provide a space where people can feel safe to enter and unpack their innermost thoughts and experiences. I strive to learn about each client, their backgrounds, personality structures, and where they want to be. In my practice, I lead with curiosity to better understand the world dynamics that shape us, and help guide my clients through the process that will lead to lasting change.

My passion is working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples to meet the challenges they may be experiencing such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, anger management, addiction, self-esteem issues or perhaps spiritual emptiness. One of my goals is to shed light on the issues that you are currently experiencing, noticing the internal roots of conflict, and finding ways to make meaningful and purposeful shifts in your life. My treatment approach is integrative, and following an assessment of the individual needs of my client determines which modalities I utilize.

I enjoy working with individuals who are enduring anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, life changes, relationship issues, grief and loss.
We all experience hardships in life, whether it be a stressor, trauma, transition, or loss. In these times, it can be easy to lose sight of who we are and dismiss the things and the relationships that are most important to us. As an experienced therapist, my goal is to empower you to identify barriers, rediscover your core values, and let go of any self-limiting beliefs. I strive to foster a sacred therapeutic space where you can feel comfortable bringing your true and whole selves to each session.

When I think of the counseling process, I really view it as a journey of growth. It is something that can take time, and like with anything worthwhile, there are highs and lows. If we are a good fit, I want to be there with you every step of the way. My goal as a counselor is to create a safe space for each moment of your journey and to really experience those moments with you. I strive to be empathetic and create a warm and welcoming environment for all. No matter what you’re going through, we can begin this journey together.

I have always enjoyed getting to know the depths of what is going on inside of people. My favorite clients have been hurt and have kept masks on for a while. Their intuition tells them that coming to life means revealing their truth and becoming present with what's going on inside of them. My therapy is not designed to be a one size fits all and I appreciate those who are motivated to grow, even if they're not sure exactly the direction. I enjoy working with anyone overcoming trauma and anyone looking for a big permanent change in their life. I also provide supervision for therapists in training.

Recognizing the unique strengths each person brings to their own journey, I am an astute listener, an empathetic partner, an advocate, and community resource. I have come to this field through my own family's struggles with substance use and mental health, have decades of experience traversing the challenges of the human experience, and offer a safe space for those I work with to do the same.

Greetings! If you are reading this, you are likely either looking to create change for yourself or help someone that you hold dearly in your life. Starting therapy can lead to feelings of hope and inspiration just as easily as it can cause anxiety and sadness. It's okay to have conflicting feelings about things in our lives; the key is to figure out how to balance the feelings so that we aren't negatively impacted by them. I believe that by establishing achievable goals and setting realistic expectations for ourselves, we can build confidence and move toward becoming the person we want to be.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
