Throughout my career I have focused extensively on helping people navigate the complex emotions and adjustments that come with grief.
Everyday life can feel incredibly heavy and often times lonesome. Talking to a mental health professional such as myself can be very helpful. There is a myth that being in therapy is a sign of weakness, when in fact, reaching out for help is an act of courage and definitely one of the first steps of this journey. It is my privilege to work with you. My deep understanding of the diverse needs of my clients helps me meet you where you are. As a compassionate listener I provide a safe and nurturing environment where you can explore your emotions, confront challenges, and embark on a journey of growth, healing and self-discovery.

I work with adolescents (ages 16+) and adults struggling with anxiety, sadness, loneliness, relationship stressors, self-esteem/identity issues, communication difficulties, family stressors or conflict, family of origin issues, loss/grief, stress management, life transitions, parenting challenges, and learning or school difficulties.
Welcome! Deciding to seek professional help and support can be a difficult but courageous choice to make. Psychotherapy can be an opportunity to begin the process of healing from emotional pain, develop effective tools, and change patterns of behavior leading to more satisfying relationships and a more fulfilling life. I provide a safe, empathic, and supportive environment where we work as a team to understand the difficulties and challenges you are facing and to develop effective solutions to overcoming these obstacles.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 14 years of experience working with adults, couples, children and families through grief, trauma, anxiety and depression.
It can be so hard to be in our experiences of life. For many reasons, we can find ourselves stuck, worried, sad and lost. We can lose our anchors, our values, our meaning and our quality of life. We can experience terrible traumas and struggle in relationships with others and with ourselves. We can lose our capacity to feel agency in our own lives and to stay engaged and curious with our own unique journeys. We do not find our way in isolation. I believe that, in working together, we are better equipped to navigate the journey and to feel good about the direction it takes.

I create a casual, down-to-earth space for women to process anxiety, depression, grief, and chronic pain/illness in light of their faith.
Your faith has lost its spark. You want to believe, but right now it’s hard. You want to feel close to God, yet everything you do makes you feel farther and farther from Him, leaving you feeling defeated and hopeless. The questions. The doubts. They’re LOUD. You remember a time when your faith was strong. But now? Now the suffering you experience has you questioning everything you thought you knew. Maybe church abuse is real for you. Whether the leadership of the church or the people of the church. It’s brutally painful. “If that’s what a Christian is,” you think…"I’m out.” But in your heart, you don’t want to abandon ship.

There is nothing more painful than the death of a loved one. Taking a first step to engage in therapy could be a very difficult decision. If you are here, it means that you have decided to take a step towards your healing. Grief is not only the loss of a loved one, but may also be a life changing event such as the end of a relationship, moving to a new country, or a change in living conditions. Losses can be both sudden and predictable. Predictable losses have the added layer of waiting for the loss to happen, followed by the loss itself. Grieving can be overwhelming and isolating. Find in our sessions a safe space to heal.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
