Most of us have thought, “should’ve/could’ve” or questioned, “what if…then what?” navigating through life experiences. I promote mindfulness and encourage awareness. When we notice our thoughts and feelings, (along with whatever is going on around us) we choose to be present. I examine roles in relationships with those willing to challenge themselves to “do better and BE better”.

As a population, we are constantly bombarded with distorted points of views. We are impacted by painful experiences, causing us to develop negative beliefs that carry over into our later years. We never take the time to process how events, experiences, or situations impact us.

When working with clients, I use an eclectic approach, which means that I am schooled in many theoretical orientations and have mastered an infinite number of skills. I draw from the knowledge I possess to adapt my approach to the person or people in front of me. I believe that the most important part of the therapeutic process is the relationship between the therapist and the client/clients. Building rapport and establishing a relationship based on acceptance, empathy, honesty, safety and trust with my clients is my first priority as the therapist. One of my innate skills is being non-judgmental.

Have you been carrying a lot of emotions and experiences? I believe that therapy is the opportunity to talk freely without judgement, to someone who is ready to listen & help them unpack their struggles. I enjoy assisting individuals with women's mental health struggles, building skills and practice with mindfulness & meditation, amongst many other mental health symptoms. The courage and vulnerability to talk with someone new about your struggles such as being a new mom or struggling with body image and eating habits, should not go unseen. I honor your effort, and can't wait to start a conversation with you.

My primary areas of focus are working with clients struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, relationship problems, and spiritual concerns.
Who am I? What is important to me? What do I believe in? What do I want out of life? I know firsthand what it is like to face these questions, especially when rebuilding after disappointment, trauma, and loss. In my own experience and in my experience working with clients, I have found that the most difficult times of our lives can be the catalyst to our greatest growth, and eventually, a sense of peace we had not thought possible.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
