About
I believe you are the expert in your own life. People come to counseling for a variety of reasons. Some may go to therapy to address major work or life changes. Others may seek help in attending to relationships, or physical or mental health conditions, like depression or anxiety. Most clients that go to therapy are coping with common everyday concerns, or stress. In my work as a professor at Northwestern University and in 8+ years of counseling and supervision I know that research shows that being open and sharing our concerns helps us heal. Counseling at Namaste can help you too.
Counselors are here to support you and help you heal. Together we can assess your concerns, track progress and work on your goals. It takes courage, awareness and wisdom to evaluate your life and plan for the changes that you want to see. Small shifts in perspective and engaging in regular positive daily habits often can cause us to feel much better.
If you have felt stuck or down more often than usual come in for an intake assessment to determine strategies to work on the obstacles or concerns you are facing. Know that you can change and that you do not have to go through this alone. Compassion is actively using self-care practices like meditation or gratitude & simply treating ourselves well.
